General description

Olimpic komplex
This large complex occupying an area of 4.67 hectares is located 3.5 kilometres from Astara, on the shores of the Caspian Sea. The construction is seismically stable and built to withstand quakes up to 9 on the Richter Scale. There are plans to build, towards 2009, a 2-storey hotel, satisfying European standards, and 5 cottages. There are car parks, running lanes, an indoor swimming pool, boiler-house, fire-prevention pool, electricity substation, football, volleyball and basketball pitches, as well as a tennis court within the complex.
There are also relaxation zones in the complex. Shady alleys with comfortable benches and numerous fountains, located in beautiful positions, will help you relax and rest.

The outstanding successes achieved by Azerbaijani sportsmen in various international competitions are, first of all, a great political victory for the sports policy led by Ilham Aliyev. Baku was included on the list of city-candidates for the Summer Olympics of 2016 thanks to the initiative and drive of President Ilham Aliyev.
The construction and exploitation of Olympic sport/health complexes upon the initiative of Ilham Aliyev, not only in Baku but in other regions too, and the policy of creating a firm material and technical foundation for the development of different sports, comprise an outstanding policy aiming to ensure a healthy future for the population.
The construction of new Olympic complexes meeting all international standards is a result of this wise policy.
