The renovation of the recreational health centre in Naftalan city
The renovation and reconstruction work on the building of the recreational health centre in Naftalan city has finished. Technical adjustments to the boiler house of the sanatorium are near conclusion.
The world famous clinic will recommence its work very soon. The opening of this unique sanatorium after its overhaul is an event of major significance, because the remedial Naftalan oil can be produced only in Azerbaijan. This unique balneological remedy is used to cure a number of ailments - diseases of the musculoskeletal system, arthritis and degenerative arthritis, of the peripheral nervous system, polyneuropathy and paresis. It is also used during rehabilitation after injury, surgery and burns.
The sanatorium began functioning in 1926. Naturally the complex deteriorated as the years went by. The Karabakh War had a hugely negative impact as refugees were moved into the complex and the number of patients from other countries etc., had to be reduced. Of course these factors did not help conditions in the health complex.
Naftalan, as a clinic of international status, was a focus of great interest for the government in the context of the State Programme on the socio-economic development of the regions in Azerbaijan, signed by President Ilham Aliyev.
“Naftalan is a unique treatment/resort city and the government will give it special attention. We will allocate funds from the state budget to develop the health resorts and sanatoria in the city. In no time, Naftalan will become a resort city of international standard” - said Ilham Aliyev during his visit to Naftalan.
Under regulation by the State Programme, the INTEKS Company completed a large amount of work to the 3000 square metre grounds of the sanatorium in a very short period of time.
In summary, we have renovated the main building, practically rebuilt the cafeteria, redesigned and fully renovated the guest rooms, built a new boiler house, converted the old laboratory into residences, decorated the front, levelled the land within the sanatorium etc.
Everything necessary for full rest and treatment is now in place - modern exterior and interior design, comfortable conditions for accommodation and taking Naftalan baths and other treatments, a large cafeteria and pleasant surroundings.
We are proud that Naftalan will regain its fame as one of the world’s unique clinics and hundreds of thousands of people will find a cure for their illness here. We are proud, because we have also played our part.
